If My Baby Could Rate Her Toys
Toys I’ve gotten my baby: the hits and the flops. Sharing them in order, toys she has gotten from being a newborn to almost 11 months old. We do have a Lovevery subscription, I’ll make a different review about those toys in another post. For now – these are all toys we have purchased through Amazon.
Wooden Rattle (newborn+) 7/10 – this is a very minimalistic, very Montessori toy. I liked that there was no plastic or artificial materials, it’s just made of wood. It still, to this day, keeps her entertained a little longer than I’d expect. Great for car entertainment.
Wooden Ring Silicone Teether (newborn+) 5/10 – despite there being a lot of different textures on this toy, my baby doesn’t like it very much. She gets bored with it in seconds. I would say it’s one of the toys she has the least interest in.
Tummy Time Mirror (newborn+) 5/10 – I bought this one off of Amazon, however our Lovevery subscription did provide a similar one shortly after. My baby liked it (not as much as the Lovevery one) but it was cheaply made and some of the fabric even started to unravel.
Chicken Silicone Teether (3+ months) 8/10- I bought this for my baby around 3 months old and she still plays with it sometimes. This toy is super cute, I think she likes the soft silicone.
Solar System Inspired Sensory Toy (newborn+) 5/10 – I think I bought this more for myself because of how cute it was. She sometimes grabs it momentarily but loses interest fairly quickly. It is entirely silicone which is nice, but it was a little smaller than I expected.
Silicone Straps (not technically a toy so no specification) 10/10 – These were initially purchased to keep her toys attached to her highchair (the Stokke high chair doesn’t have a completely smooth surface so it’s difficult for things to suction) but it ended up being one of her favorite toys. One of these suckers will keep her entertained for like 20 minutes sometimes. Love how simple it is and that it’s just made of silicone!
Savannah Adventures (3+ months) 6/10 – I still don’t understand how this really attaches to the car seat. I bought it to entertain her on long car rides. Sometimes when she gets a little restless I’ll hand this toy to her, and she will play with it for maybe 5 minutes before she gets overwhelmed and pushes it away. It is super cute and might attach easier to an infant car seat.
Sassy Teethe and Twirl (6+ months) 8/10 – This was initially a big hit when I bought it for her around 6 months old. I think she actually likes the suction cup (it detaches) more than the toy itself. There is someone plastic but a lot of the teething parts are silicone which is a thoughtful detail. This is one of the highest rated toys on Amazon!
Baby Swimming Float (3+ months) 8/10 – Not sure if this really counts as a toy but I figured I would add it here anyways. I spent a long time researching baby swimming floats, longer than I’d care to admit. There are definitely nicer ones out there, but I found this one to be best value since we were only anticipating using it a few times before she would grow out of it. I liked the simplicity of this one compared to some of the others. The hardest thing was getting her in and out of it, as it was a little awkward to maneuver, which is why we only used it a couple of times. The times she did use it she enjoyed it, and it was nice for us to be hands-free in the pool (of course we still had to keep a close eye on her).
Remote Teething Toy (3+ months) 8/10 – We finally got this toy after her persistent obsession with our real TV remote. It’s pretty cute and it comes in purple, apricot, or black. We chose the purple. This toy does keep her busy at times, although her favorite part is the strap and the clip it comes with. Figures. It’s a great toy for the car!
Baby Banana Toothbrush (3+ months) 5/10 – She was not a huge fan of this toothbrush/teether/toy after the initial day. It had a lot of positive reviews so I was hopeful. It may work for your baby! She much preferred to use her other baby toothbrushes.
Raimy Musical Instruments Set (1+ years) 9/10 – this set is so adorable and aesthetically pleasing. We got it for her when she was almost 11 months old and she was able to intuitively pick up on how to play the instruments fairly easily. The triangle instrument does come with a rubber piece that could be a potential choking hazard so I tucked that away.
Relodica Busy Board (1+ years) 10/10 – there were many busy boards to choose from on Amazon and after comparing them all this is the one I went with due to the most positive reviews (some of the other, higher rated ones complained about build quality). We got it for her a little prematurely, so she doesn’t quite know how to press the buttons or the switches, but she tries to and it’s so adorable to watch! It keeps her fairly occupied and it’s a fun activity for us to do together.
Kikidex Magnetic Drawing Board (1+ years) 7/10 – we also bought this prematurely, as she isn’t quite a year yet. It’s a cute toy, and it has many ways to adjust it (remove all legs to make it flat, a couple to make it lean, or leave them all on to make a table). She has no idea how to use it but we’re anticipating it’ll be quite a hit once she gets old enough. For now her current favorite part of the toy is the legs when we remove them, she loves to throw them, of course! Hence the high rating.
I would love to hear what has worked for your baby and what you are considering trying. Remember, every baby is different, just because my baby didn’t like something doesn’t mean yours won’t, either. Sometimes their favorite toys are regular household items, my baby has had so much fun with things like kitchen utensils and pots and pans.
